_MISSION
The League encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. We do not support or oppose any political party or any candidate. We take action on selected government issues in the public interest. We operate on a set of principles using our visions, beliefs, and intentions.
EDUCATE
The League leads by generating greater public participation in the election process and producing in-depth, impartial information. We do not support or oppose any political party or candidate. Our Voters’ Guides give the public the opportunity to compare candidates' views on important issues. They also provide factual information about ballot measures, tax questions, and the political process to help citizens make informed choices at election time. Our Who's Who in Santa Fe County is a widely used directory of elected and public officials. We moderate candidate forums and hold open informational meetings and issue forums on topics of interest to the community.
and ADVOCATE
After thorough study and consensus by our members, we may take action in support of or opposition to current or proposed government actions. Recent studies have addressed governmental transparency and accountability, alternative energy, water, sustainability, and other natural resources policies, education, affordable housing, and health care reform. Actions on our positions include briefings and workshops to inform League members and the public, addressing government bodies, and observing government meetings.
