Campaign Finance Reform

State Finances

The LWVNM position on state finances is that state revenue should be sufficient to fund essential services. Given that services such as health care, education and public safety have been cut over the last two years, we will advocate for increased revenues. The LWVNM also believes that taxes should be progressive. LWVNM also believes that no tax reductions should be given to businesses until services are fully funded.

SB9 – Mandatory Combined Tax Reporting would require out-of-corporations to pay taxes on the
business they do in New Mexico. It would raise revenues and level playing field for NM companies.
It has passed the Senate and will be voted on in the House.

Contact your representative and urge them to vote for the bill when it comes to the House floor.
